Dr Raju has obtained his medical education in Gandhi medical college , Hyderabad, India followed by MD ( General Medicine) from Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences ( NIMS) and then DM ( Nephrology ) from the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. He was a recipient of Prof HL Trivedi gold medal in Nephrology in DNB exam in 2002.He has obtained MBA in healthcare management from ICFAI.
He joined as a faculty at NIMS, Hyderabad, in July 2002 and continued to serve there at different positions and became the senior professor.
He has been serving as the associate editor of Indian journal nephrology (IJN), Indian journal of transplantation (IJT) and Frontiers - Medicine.
He participated in several national and international clinical studies such as CREDENCE,VISTERA, VISIONARY, APPLAUSE, ACHIEVE,DESI study, RISE registry, i-TANGIBLE, ARTEMIS-IgAN etc. He was the principle investigator of "CKD task force study" by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)
He is the honorary secretary of Indian society of Nephrology - southern chapter(ISNSC) (2023-2025) and secretary of peritoneal dialysis society of India ( PDSI)( 2019-23). He was the governing council member of ISN - India, ISOT, ISNSC and PDSI earlier.
His interests include glomerular diseases especially IgA Nephropathy , dialysis, hypertension, renal transplantation and infectious diseases.
