Chandan Kamilya
Florida Atlantic University, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Bhopal, Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur
About
Chandan Kamilya is a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Florida Atlantic University, USA. He obtained his PhD in Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Bhopal, India, where he worked under the supervision of Prof. Prasanta Ghorai. He also holds an MSc in Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur and a BSc (Honours) in Chemistry from Vidyasagar University.
His research interests focus on asymmetric organocatalysis, heterocycle synthesis, and methodology development for the construction of chiral bioactive molecules. His work emphasizes regio-, enantio-, and diastereoselective cascade reactions, including hetero-Michael additions and cyclization strategies.
In his postdoctoral research, he is exploring chemical approaches to decode biological systems, applying synthetic and medicinal chemistry tools to understand molecular mechanisms underlying biological function. His current work aims to bridge chemistry and biology for the rational design of functionally relevant small molecules.
He has published in leading journals such as Journal of Organic Chemistry, Organic Letters, Chemistry – A European Journal, and European Journal of Organic Chemistry. His long-term research goals include applications of asymmetric synthesis in medicinal chemistry and drug discovery.
