About
Dr. Ranjeet K has a post graduate degree in Marine Biology with specialization in estuarine ecology and doctorate from School of Marine Sciences, Cochin University of Science and Technology. He started his research career as a Post doctoral fellow in an Indo-Dutch (CUSAT- Wageningen Agricultural University, The Netherlands) collaborative programme in 2002 and later moved on to King Fahd University of Petroleum and Chemicals, Saudi Arabia as Fishery Biologists in the prestigious United Nations Compensation Committee project to assess the impact of 1991 Gulf war related oil spill in Arabian Gulf. He has expertise in aquatic environmental monitoring, impact assessment and has been engaged in active research in wetland and intertidal ecology. He has published over 50 research papers, guided 10 PhD scholars, two post doctoral students and successfully handled 12 externally funded research projects on topics related to fisheries, aquaculture, aquatic ecology and marine biology. At present, he is a member of the Expert Sub-group (Environment & Biodiversity) of the Kerala State Planning Board, and is also a focal theme member of Climate Change in the Department of Environment and Climate Change (DoECC), Govt. of Kerala. His research interests include understanding productivity and diversity in intertidal zones, developing technologies for mitigation of emerging pollutants, and assessing the health of aquatic ecosystems through trophic modeling.
