About
Soumyadeep Bhaumik is a medical doctor and international public health research methodologist. His work focuses on employing and innovating on a diverse range of methodologies as fit-for-purpose approaches for public health research and practice.
As the Head of the Meta-research and Evidence Synthesis Unit at the George Institute for Global Health, he oversees a global and agile team of researchers, specialising in fit-for-purpose approaches to synthesizing evidence for informing policies, practices, and guidelines. His primary focus is to innovate on methodologies for research priority setting and developing core outcome sets. Additionally, he conducts interpretive policy analysis to understand the societal construction and framing of public health problems. As a methodologist, he works in a disease agnostic manner, although recent work has a focus on snakebite. He is also interested in justice in the knowledge ecosystem of health and medicine.
Soumyadeep has a demonstrated history of impactful work which has informed multiple WHO guidelines, national and sub-national policies, and stimulated public discourse. He has been consistently listed in the top 2% of cited researchers by a Stanford University analysis, since 2021.
