About
Dr. Joyeta Ghosh is a multidisciplinary scientist whose work spans public health nutrition, computational biology, and data science. She holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Calcutta, where she conducted ground-breaking research as a DST Inspire Fellow on the antimicrobial properties of vitamin D against foodborne pathogens. Her academic journey also includes a master’s degree in data science from Liverpool John Moores University, equipping her with advanced analytical tools to enhance her research on health and disease.
Dr. Ghosh began her career in 2011 as a public health nutritionist, working on community-based health programs to address critical health challenges. Over the years, her research focus expanded to include gut health, cardiovascular disease prediction, and sexually transmitted infections (STIs), particularly in the Indian context. She is currently leading projects on the molecular epidemiology of antimicrobial resistance in Staphylococcus aureus and investigating STI-related diseases in India.
Her expertise also extends to space health research, having collaborated with NASA on their "In-Flight Food System" project under the GRC scheme. This project, conducted in partnership with CROWD PLAT, aims to optimize food systems for long-duration space missions, ensuring astronaut health and performance during space exploration.
Dr. Ghosh’s innovative research has been instrumental in integrating computational techniques with biological data, enabling breakthroughs in precision nutrition, vaccine development, and disease modelling.
With a passion for mentoring and interdisciplinary collaboration, Dr. Ghosh continues to push boundaries in science and technology, contributing to innovative solutions for global and extra-terrestrial health challenges.
