About
My research pursuits have been primarily centered on two distinct stratigraphic entities in India: the Proterozoic sedimentary basins of Peninsular India and the Deccan Volcanic Province. Over the span of a decade, I have committed myself to developing a comprehensive tectono-stratigraphic basin evolution model for the Proterozoic basins. This endeavor involved thorough investigations encompassing sedimentology, stratigraphy, and structural analysis. More recently, through collaboration with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Bombay) and Physical Research Laboratory (PRL Ahmadabad), I have conducted geochronological, geochemical, and isotopic studies. These endeavors aimed to determine the radiometric ages of the magmatics and depositional ages of various sequences within the Proterozoic Kaladgi and Dhar Forest Inlier basins. Additionally, we sought to assess the primary nature of their carbon and strontium isotopic signals, enabling accurate interpretations of depositional environments and implications for global events. Furthermore, we endeavored to constrain the age of basin closure using the Pb-Pb isochron method to date the youngest horizon in the Kaladgi Basin. Furthermore, to gain comparative insights, I have also explored some segments of the Cuddapah and Vindhyan basins, aiming to elucidate the nature of Proterozoic processes active during Purana sedimentation.
In addition to these pursuits, I have contributed to a collaborative research group dedicated to investigating the physical and chemical attributes of lava flows within the Deccan Volcanic Province. The objective of this research is to advance our comprehension of the timing and mechanisms governing the emplacement of these lava flows.
