About
Arya Parakkate Vijayaraghavan is an Assistant Professor at T. A. Pai Management Institute Bengaluru, associated with Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal, India.
I have a PhD in English (Commonwealth Literatures) from The English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad, India. My research interest centers around intersectionality and gender discourses. I am particularly interested in exploring how gendered experiences are informed and negotiated through the intersections with multiple identity positions. My interest in the area began with my doctoral work that explored the trajectories of Islamic Feminism and its negotiation with the larger feminist discourses. My interaction with this area has also led me to develop interest in the politics of identity and narrativization of the body. My experiences as facilitator for various courses have also sparked my interest in Learning and Education.
I aspire to translate the knowledge acquired through my research and teaching experiences in the areas of Women and Gender Studies, Postcolonial Studies, Cultural Studies, and English Language Education to understand the nature, politics, and relevance of academia in the contemporary times.
