About

Dr. Kasi Eswarappa is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Tribal Studies, Art, Culture & Folk Literature, Faculty of Tribal Studies, Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Amarkantak, Madhya Pradesh since 12th July 2017. He has completed his M.A, M. Phil & Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of Hyderabad. His Ph.D. thesis entitled “An Anthropological Study of Livelihoods: The case of Two Sugali Settlements in Anantapur District of Andhra Pradesh”. His Area of Specialization includes Tribal Studies, Tribal Development & Politics, Women leadership and Governance in South Asia, Marginality and Politics of South Asia, NGOs and Civil Society. He has research experience in the areas related to Political Leadership, Governance, Development policies, and programme implementation with the UN bodies such as UN Women, UNDP, ILO, and other academic bodies such as the Centre for Economic & Social Studies (CESS), Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI), National Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj (NIRD&PR), etc. Previously, he taught at the Department of Anthropology, University of Hyderabad & NIRD&PR, Hyderabad. He has published research articles in internationally reputed journals and has authored a book entitled “Anthropology and Development in a Globalised India: An Ethnography of Sericulture from the South’’, Newcastle: Cambridge Scholars Publishing, UK. He has edited 06 books and jointly guests edited three special issues in reputed journals such as the Journal of Developing Societies, the Romanian Yearbook of Anthropology, and Man in India. He is also serving as Editorial Board Member for South Asia Research, SAGE Open (Humanities), and SN Social Sciences (Springer).
