About

Md. Shariful Islam, MPhil, is an epidemiologist, demographer, and public health researcher based in Bangladesh. He currently serves as Assistant Professor and Chairman of the Department of Public Health at First Capital University of Bangladesh, Chuadanga.

With over a decade of academic and research experience, his work focuses on epidemiology, demography, and population health in low- and middle-income countries. His research areas include maternal and child health, sexual and reproductive health, infertility, infectious diseases, gerontology and aging, and health expectancy using demographic and epidemiological methods.

He has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications in Scopus-indexed journals and has extensive experience analyzing nationally representative datasets, including the Bangladesh Demographic and Health Survey (BDHS) and the Household Income and Expenditure Survey (HIES).

In addition to research, he is actively engaged in teaching, academic leadership, and supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students. He also serves as a reviewer and an editor for international peer-reviewed journals and collaborates with researchers globally.
