About
My name is Rishukumar Panday. I am a materials chemist. My work focuses on designing, synthesizing, and characterizing functional molecular and hybrid materials. I am particularly interested in the structure-property relationships of ferroelectrics, hybrid halide perovskites, and inorganic materials for bioelectronics, with the aim of applying them in optoelectronic and neuromorphic devices.
I specialize in small-molecule and single-crystal X-ray crystallography. I am proficient in using software such as APEX3, CrysAlis Pro, and Olex2 for solving crystal structures, modeling disorder, and refining data. This crystallographic analysis is central to my work, as it guides the rational synthesis of new organic and hybrid compounds, which I perform using inert gas techniques, hydrothermal synthesis, and standard organic purification methods.
For material characterization, I use a range of techniques including thermal analysis (TGA-DTA, DSC), spectroscopy (UV-Vis, FT-IR, NMR), and microscopy (SEM-EDX). A key part of my research is measuring functional properties like ferroelectric polarization (P-E loops), dielectric response, and piezoelectric coefficients. I also have experience fabricating polymer-composite devices for energy harvesting and analyzing data from ferroelectric field-effect transistors (FeFETs) for neuromorphic computing applications.
In addition to research, I have served as a Teaching Assistant at IISER Pune, where I led tutorials and laboratory sessions for undergraduate and postgraduate courses in inorganic, physical, and general chemistry. I am also experienced in managing central research facility operations.
