About

Andrei Seryi is Associate Director for Accelerator Operations and R&D at Jefferson Lab. He previously served as Director of the John Adams Institute for Accelerator Science and Professor at Oxford University until 2018, and earlier held senior research positions at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society.

Dr. Seryi has over 30 years of international leadership in accelerator science, including major contributions to linear colliders, plasma acceleration, and advanced beam delivery systems. He has led multi-institutional R&D collaborations, developed novel training methodologies, and supervised PhD students in Europe and the U.S.

A dedicated educator, he has taught extensively at the U.S. Particle Accelerator School (USPAS) and other leading accelerator schools worldwide. He is the author of two editions of the textbook Unifying Physics of Accelerators, Lasers, and Plasma, widely adopted in graduate training. His professional focus includes advancing the workforce in accelerator science through curriculum innovation, project-based learning, and international collaboration.

His interests also include project management, interdisciplinary applications of accelerator technologies, and fostering innovation in discovery science, industry, healthcare, and energy.
