About

Dr. Imran Khan is an Assistant Professor at Department of Food Science and Technology. Dr. Khan received BEST-KNU scholarship for PhD studies from Kangwon National University, Chuncheon, South Korea and completed his studies in August 2018. He also received “outstanding Academic Award” in August 2018. Afterwards, he joined National Cancer Center, Goyang-si, South Korea for Postdoc and worked on diet-microbiome-host associations. He has published more than 56 research articles in peer-reviewed National and International Journals with 2300+ citations (as per Google Scholar), H-index of 25 and i10-index of 44. Also, he has published 10 book chapters in various journals including CRC Press and Springer Nature etc. He is actively engaged in research activities in the area of food preservation, food safety, functional foods and food grade nanoparticles fabrications for application in food products. He organized 11 seminars and workshops as principal organizer at the University of Haripur, and participated in 15 seminars and workshops. Furthermore, Dr. Khan has been deeply involved in supervising students since August 2020. He has supervised eight BS (Hons) students for their final-year research projects and internships, ensuring their success. Additionally, he has mentored six MSc students and is currently overseeing the progress of two PhD students. He also presented his research work as poster in various interanational conferences. He received HEC-NRPU research grant of 10.5 million as Principle Investigator on title “Use of modified chitosan based antimicrobial edible coating in combination with calcium chloride as hurdle technology for fruits shelf-life extension” and another HEC-NRPU research Project of 7.5 million as Co-Principal Investigator on title “Screening of Pakistani Medicinal Plant for nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate NAD(H) oxidase inhibitory activity and their in vitro verification through enzymatic assay”. Previously he worked on two separate projects in South Korea entitled “Development and commercialization of on the site surface sterilization technology for fresh and produce in production area” and “Development of Natural antimicrobial agents using forest products”. He also worked as Research Associate from February 1, 2020 to July 31, 2020 in South Korea and from February 4, 2013 to February 5, 2014 in Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad.
