About
Dr. Sen earned his Ph.D. in Physics from the prestigious IIT Madras, where he made significant contributions to the field of mesoscopic physics. His research focused on the intricate dynamics of disordered electronic systems, quantum coherence, and Anderson localization, all under the influence of low temperatures and high magnetic fields (up to 9T).
During his doctoral tenure, Dr. Sen developed expertise in fabricating plasmonic hybrid nanostructures, investigating the fascinating coupling effects between plasmon-cavity modes and excitonic modes. He also explored the pivotal role of plasmon-mediated 'hot' electrons in relaxation dynamics.
Dr. Sen's hands-on experience extends to operating ultra-high vacuum physical vapor deposition (PVD) systems, including RF- and DC-sputtering. Additionally, he has worked with Oxford cryostats, achieving temperatures as low as 1.5 K and magnetic fields of 9 T.
His research interests also encompassed 2D van der Waals materials, including graphene and transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs).
Presently, Dr. Sen holds the position of Senior Technical Lead at Applied Materials, where he has been playing an important role in innovating and developing optical metrology products since 2019.
