Prof. V Venkata Basava Rao is presently working as Professor of Chemical Engineering and Director, Academics and Research & Development in University College of Technology (A), Osmania University, Hyderabad.
Has born on Seventh July 1964 and obtained B.Tech in Chemical Engineering from Andhra University in 1986 and M.Tech (1988) & Ph D (1991) in Chemical Engineering from IIT-Kharagpur. Having 4 years industrial and 27 years teaching experience. Supervised 23 PhDs and guided 72 M.Tech theses. Published 66 Technical Papers in reputed Journals and attended 16 international conferences at United States of America, Canada, Germany and Singapore.
Prof Rao bagged Young Scientist Award by Andhra Pradesh Council for Science and Technology (APCOST) during 1999, 5th position out the TEN as “The Best Professors” by student community in the Survey conducted by M/s. 24/7 Customer in Education for the year 2008 and received “The Hindustan Lever’s The Outstanding Chemical Engineer of the Year 2009 (under 45 years)” Biennial Award.
Prof. Basava Rao has been elected four terms as council member for Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE) and extended services as Registrar, Hon. Joint Secretary, Vice President, IIChE (two terms). Also, he was elected as IIChE, national President for the year 2020. He is also FIE and Chartered Engineer of Institution of Engineers
His research areas are Reactive Separations, Circulating & Tapered Fluidized Bed Technology for novel applications, Adsorption using special adsorbents, Process Intensifications etc
