PhD Thesis on “ Strategies for impeding quorum sensing in bacteria: Basic and applied aspects”
My doctoral work is focused on the current challenge of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). It involves biosynthesis of hydrophilic glycomonoterpenes from hydrophobic monoterpenes (Citral and Citronellal) to attenuate quorum sensing associated virulence in bacteria. Further, the mode of action of this active compound and its effect on quorum sensing related gene expression in P.aeruginosa was deciphered using realtime PCR. Along with this application of the same compound in implant coating is under study.
