Prof. Franklin Nantui Mabe is an Associate Professor of Agricultural Economics. He has over 12 years working experience in teaching, research and development work. His research is in the area of agricultural productivity analysis, agricultural policy analysis, impact evaluation of projects, environmental and resource economics, and economics of climate change. He has published 47 refereed journal articles and 3 book chapters. Also, he has to his credit two books titled “Basic Mathematics for Undergraduate” and Practical Guide to Project Monitoring and Evaluation. He has also presented research findings at several local and international conferences.
Professor Franklin Nantui Mabe has consulted for many international and local organizations and won several grants from USAID, Solidaridad West Africa, Ghana Developing Communities Association (GDCA), African Development Bank, West African Science Service Centre on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL), International Institute for Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Global Shea Alliance, Oxfam, International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI). As the Director of CAPPS, Franklin is collaborating with IFPRI team to implement randomize control trial research on Shea Nut Collection. The project aims at empowering women to sustainably increase incomes and improve welfare through interventions such as tricycle, personal protective equipment (wellington boot and hand gloves) and de-husking machine in shea value chain in underdeveloped areas of Ghana.
Prof. Franklin Nantui Mabe is a passionate educator with high commitment to raising the next generation of researchers. He taught numerous courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. These include Resource Economics, Environmental Economics, Advanced Mathematical Methods; Econometric Methods and Applications, Agriculture Development and Policy, Elements of Development Economics and Planning, Basic Mathematics, Environmental and Health Economics, Basic Statistics, Monitoring and Evaluation, Agricultural Project Planning and Analytics, Research Methods and Academic Writing.
Currently, Prof. Franklin N. Mabe is the Director for Centre for Agricultural Productivity and Policy Studies (CAPPS) in University for Development Studies. He has previously held several positions including Senior Hall Tutor for Non-Residential Students, Head of Department, Faculty Coordinator of Third Trimester Field Practical Programme and Department Quality Assurance Officer. He was the Vice President of University for Development Studies Branch of University Teachers Association of Ghana from 2017 to 2018.
