About

Prof. Tangellapalli Srinivas is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Dr B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jalandhar, Punjab, India. Previously, he served as Professor at the CO2 Research and Green Technologies Centre, School of Mechanical Engineering, Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Vellore, Tamil Nadu.

He obtained his Ph.D. from JNT University College of Engineering, Hyderabad, Telangana, in 2008 and completed postdoctoral research at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT), Canada, during 2010 and 2013. He also possesses four years of industrial experience in the machine tool industry and has provided industrial consultancy services in solar thermal energy and thermal systems.

Prof. Srinivas has served as Principal Investigator for several externally funded research projects supported by CSIR, SERB, SERB–IMPRINT, DST, and SPARC. His research contributions include five granted patents, two copyrights, four published patents, four authored books, three edited books, 25 book chapters, and more than 150 peer-reviewed journal and conference publications.

His research focuses on solar thermal energy systems, advanced combined power generation cycles, polygeneration, hybrid solar–biomass energy systems, exergy analysis and energy efficiency, heat recovery systems, desalination and solar cooling technologies, Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC), Kalina cycle systems, user interface application design for teaching–learning processes, and software tools for Outcome-Based Education (OBE).

He has supervised six Ph.D. scholars, 40 master’s theses, and more than 50 undergraduate research projects.

Prof. Srinivas serves on the editorial boards of the journals Recent Innovations in Chemical Engineering and Applied Solar Energy (Springer). In recognition of his contributions to teaching and research, he received the Best Teacher Award at NIT Jalandhar in 2021, and the Innovative Teaching Award at the 2nd Leadership Convention on “World is One,” organized by the World Leadership Academy and KIIT, Bhubaneswar, in 2023. He was also recognized among the career-long Top 2% of World Scientists in the Stanford University–Elsevier survey in 2024 and 2025.
