About
I am an earth scientist and educator specializing in geoinformatics, climate change, hydrology, and water resources management. I currently serve as Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Geoinformatics at the Symbiosis Institute of Geoinformatics, Symbiosis International (Deemed University), Pune.
My research focuses on understanding hydro-geo-meteorological processes and human interactions to address challenges related to the climate–water–food–energy nexus. I integrate remote sensing, GIS, stable water isotopes, hydrological modelling, and artificial intelligence to develop solutions for sustainable water resources management. My work has been published in leading journals, including Journal of Hydrology, Hydrology and Earth System Sciences, CATENA, and Science of the Total Environment.
I have secured competitive research grants from ISRO and UGC as Principal Investigator and have contributed to DST-funded projects as Co-Principal Investigator. My research has been recognized through the National Emerging Geospatial Faculty Fellow Award (National Mission on Education through ICT (NMEICT), Ministry of Education, Government of India, 2024), the Outstanding Reviewer Award (2025) from the Hydrological Sciences Journal and the International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS), and the Outstanding Paper Award (2025) from COSPAR (Young Scientist category). I also serve as a Steering Committee Member of the GIScience Commission, International Geographical Union (2024–2028), and hold editorial roles (Associate and Scientific Editor) with Transactions in GIS, World Water Policy, Journal of Mountain Science, and Discover Sustainability.
