About

Amitava Roy received the B.Sc. degree (Hons.) in physics from the University of North Bengal, Siliguri, India, in 1995, the M.Sc. degree in physics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India, in 1997, and the Ph.D. degree from the Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), Mumbai, India, in 2012. He graduated from the Training School, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai, in 1998.
Since 1998, he has been with the Accelerator and Pulse Power Division, BARC, where he is currently a Scientific Officer (G) and Head of Microwave and X-rays Section, APPD. He is also holding the position of Associate Professor, Physical Sciences, HBNI. He has authored over 90 scientific publications/presentations in international/national journals/conferences. His research interests include intense relativistic electron beam generation and applications, generation of high-power microwaves and flash X-ray, particle accelerators, and pulsed-power technology.
Dr. Roy has received a university medal for scoring the second position in the B.Sc. examination. In 2013, he received the Post-Doctoral Fellowship from the Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Prague, Czech Republic, for two years to work on EUV generation from Laser Produced Plasma.
