About
I am a biophysicist, working to understand biology with a interdisciplinary and holistic viewpoint, utilising computational and theoretical tools combined with experiments, to address vexing public health concerns and ecological challenges. I work primarily on understanding bacterial resilience from single cell to colony scale. During my PhD, I worked on understanding the design principles underpinning the stability of the cell wall of bacteria and to model the action of biomimetic antimicrobial agents on the bacterial cell membrane, using theoretical and computational methods. In 2021, I moved to Luxembourg as a HFSP fellow at University of Luxembourg (Lab of Prof. Anupam Sengupta). I investigated spatiotemporal evolution of genealogical enclaves in growing single cell founder colonies and quantified the effect of biological activity on mixing-demixing dynamics, using a combination of theoretical, computational and microbiology experimental techniques. Currently, I am in Institut für Mikrobiologie, Friedrich Schiller University Jena (Lab of Prof. Rosalind Allen), working towards understanding the molecular and biophysical basis for high level resistance in bacteria and origin of growth and division rules followed in bacterial cell cycle.
