About

Dr. Vinaya Kumar H. M. is an Assistant Professor (Senior Scale) and Technical Officer at the Keladi Shivappa Nayaka University of Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences (KSNUAHS), Shivamogga, India. He holds a PhD in Agricultural Extension from the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bengaluru, and has over nine years of experience in teaching, research, and extension.

His research focuses on climate change adaptation, climate-smart agriculture, low-carbon farming systems, carbon markets, livelihood vulnerability, and farmer behaviour. His work integrates socio-economic, behavioural, and institutional perspectives to understand how smallholder farmers respond to climate risks and sustainability transitions.

He has led and contributed to nationally and internationally funded research projects supported by organizations such as ICSSR, CGIAR–CIMMYT, the British Council, and World Bank-assisted programmes. His research has generated methodological contributions, including the development of measurement tools for assessing climate vulnerability, adaptive capacity, and farmers’ attitudes toward agricultural innovations.

Dr. Kumar has published in international peer-reviewed journals and contributed to books and policy-oriented outputs on climate resilience and sustainable food systems. He is also actively engaged in teaching and mentoring postgraduate and doctoral students, with a focus on interdisciplinary and applied research.

In addition to his academic roles, he contributes to the scientific community as an editor and reviewer for several journals and participates in capacity-building, outreach, and collaborative research initiatives aimed at strengthening the interface between science, policy, and practice.
