About

Dr. Sangharsh Rao (b. Dec 12, 1981, Lucknow, UP) is a distinguished scientist specializing in Remote Sensing, LiDAR, SONAR, and Photogrammetry, with significant contributions to geology and archaeology. He excelled academically, completing his M.Sc. in Geology (74%) and a Ph.D. on “Human Settlement in Middle Ganga Plain: Response to Geomorphic & Climate Change in Late Pleistocene–Holocene” under Prof. I.B. Singh (Lucknow University) and Dr. Rakesh Tewari (ASI, New Delhi).

He qualified UP-SLET (2004), UGC-NET (2005), and CSIR-NET (2006) in Earth Sciences, Archaeology, and Planetary Sciences, establishing himself as a versatile scholar. He also earned a diploma in Animation & Multimedia (ZEDCA) and proficiency in German, reflecting multidimensional learning.

Dr. Rao has undertaken geological and archaeological explorations, including marine excavations at Dwarka and fieldwork at Namisaranya, Sitapur. He has published research papers, technical reports, and projects applying RS/GIS in mapping, mineral exploration, and archaeology. Since 2010, he has served as Treasurer of the Indian Society of Remote Sensing (Lucknow Chapter).

A member of leading bodies such as the Brahmavarta Geographical Society, Epigraphical Society of India, and Indian Archaeological Society, he continues to advance interdisciplinary research. Beyond science, he enjoys horse riding, clay modeling, and photography, embodying a holistic and creative outlook.
