About

I am a Biotechnologist by training and an Ethnopharmacologist/ Natural Product Researcher by profession, with over 16 years of research experience in documenting traditional knowledge, pharmacognosy, natural product chemistry and pharmacology, bioprospecting, and intellectual property rights. My work focused on integrating traditional knowledge with modern science to develop herbal drugs, nutraceuticals, functional foods, and cosmeceuticals. I am skilled in advanced analytical instruments, molecular assays, and data interpretation. Currently, my research has pivoted toward genomics, focusing on validating traditional medicine and nutraceuticals at the 'omics' level by integrating advanced techniques with systems biology approaches. I am also committed to developing a unified protocol or methodology for the quality standardization of traditional medicines, viewing it as both a challenge and an opportunity in this AI-driven technological era. Moreover, I am involved in an ongoing collaborative research project between DST-BSIP (India) and the University of Chicago on the genetics of tribal populations and the gut microbiome.
