About
Dr. Raghuram Ammavajjala is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at BITS Pilani Hyderabad. He received his Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad in 2021. His doctoral research focused on "Reliability Analysis of Rainfall Induced Slope Failures," addressing the critical issue of slope stability under varying weather conditions. Following his Ph.D., Dr. Raghuram served as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Civil Engineering department at IIT Bombay from September 2021 to June 2022. During this period, he worked on analyzing the stability of railway embankments and cuttings under rainfall conditions, contributing valuable insights to infrastructure resilience and safety. In June 2022, Dr. Raghuram joined the Civil Engineering department at Aalto University, Finland, as a Postdoctoral Fellow. At Aalto, his research focused on the carbon-neutral stabilization of soft clays, aligning with global efforts towards sustainable engineering practices. He has an impressive publication record. His research interests encompass a wide range of topics within geotechnical engineering, including Carbon Negative Ground Improvement Techniques, Sustainable Geo-Materials, Risk and Reliability in Geotechnical Engineering, Spatial Variability, Unsaturated Soil Mechanics, and Slope Stability. In addition to his academic and research accomplishments, he has been awarded a few projects from Telecom Technology Development Fund (TTDF) and National Buildings Construction Corporation. These projects further underscores his commitment to advancing sustainable engineering solutions. His background in both research and practical applications continues to contribute significantly to the advancement of geotechnical engineering, particularly in the areas of sustainability and reliability.
