About
I am a researcher and academic focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion within organisations. On more specific notes, I work with questions that ask people and structures to reflect on why they do what they do, and how the existing form can be made more inclusive for those who have been left outside. As of now, my focus of research and teaching is at the nexus of gender and how it is socioculturally constructed for us.
I believe in making my research relevant in real life, and this theory pushes me to explore projects with policymakers, governments, and intergovernmental organisations. Exemplifying this, I have co-written the Gender Report for Women in Asia and the Pacific for UNWTO (2022), and have also been invited to present at the first UNWTO Regional Conference for Asia and the Pacific.
I also am a two-times TEDx Speaker - and not surprisingly, both talks were about how women, their empowerment, and the ecosystem they function in - need change for good.
Among different tools for fostering inclusion in working and social spaces, I call dibs on the training (diversity training)!
I have a thriving relationship with the industry, where I get to train the stakeholders on the challenging aspects of inclusion. I am also an ardent devotee of communicating research via industry events, including academic and non-academic conferences.
For future research and collaborations, I am seeking projects that ask deeper questions about why things are STILL the way they are and critique the popular understanding of 'it has always worked like this'.
