Abhijit Majumdar is an Institute Chair Professor in Textile and Fibre Engineering department of Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, India. He acquired M.Tech degree in Textile Engineering from IIT Delhi and Ph.D in Production Engineering from Jadavpur University, Kolkata. He also holds an MBA from IIT Delhi with specialization in Operations Management.
His research areas include protective fibrous materials, sustainable supply chain management, multi-criteria decision making and soft computing applications. He has been involved in high value projects with Defense Research and Development Organization, India. He has published 100 research papers in international refereed journals and guided nine Ph.D students. He has authored two textbooks and one monograph and edited two books. He is the associate editor of Journal of the Institution of Engineers (India) Series E (Chemical and Textile Engineering) published by Springer. He is a recipient of Outstanding Young Faculty Fellowship (2009-2014) of IIT Delhi, Teaching Excellence Award (2015) of IIT Delhi and Gandhian Young Technological Innovation Award (2017).
