About
Prof. Madi Chetty is a distinguished academic, researcher, and administrator in the field of Electrical Engg,
renowned for his expertise in power electronics, renewable energy systems, and cyber-physical systems. Hold-
ing a doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, he has made substantial contributions to teaching, research,
and institutional development. His research interests cover high-gain DC-DC converters, grid-connected in-
verters, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, smart grids, cyber-physical security, and artificial intelligence
applications in power systems. Prof. Chetty has authored numerous research papers, advancing the
understanding of renewable energy integration, system security, and AI-driven control mechanisms. As an
educator, he has developed innovative course content for subjects such as Electrical and Electronics Tech-
nology and Engineering Measurements, employing the flipped classroom model to enhance interactive and
student-centered learning. His dedication to mentoring students is evident through his guidance of un-
dergraduate and postgraduate students in Practice School (PS-1 and PS-2) programs, helping them acquire
industry-relevant skills and practical experience.
Prof. Chetty has played a pivotal role in curriculum reform, serving on committees responsible for
transitioning the degree program from B.S. Engineering to B.Tech Engineering. His efforts have ensured that
the curriculum aligns with contemporary industry standards and prepares students for evolving technological
landscapes. Additionally, he has developed and administered lab content for Engineering Measurements
and Electrical and Electronics Engineering, integrating tools like LabVIEW and Multisim to enhance hands-
on learning. His contributions to research infrastructure are noteworthy, having established the Power
Electronics and Renewable Energy Systems Laboratory and the Smart and Cyber-Physical Systems Laboratory.
These laboratories are equipped with state-of-the-art tools for research in areas such as DC-DC converters,
grid-tied inverters, smart grids, and cyber-physical security. To expand accessibility, he introduced virtual lab
concepts, enabling remote experimentation and learning opportunities for students and researchers.
Prof. Chetty’s commitment to bridging academia and industry is demonstrated through his collaborations
with leading companies. He has delivered specialized training programs on Power System Engineering
for organizations like TATA Power, Jindal Steel, and Aditya Birla Cement Group. Additionally, he devel-
oped and delivered an Electric Vehicle (EV) course tailored for Daimler Benz, focusing on EV technologies,
charging systems, and power electronics applications. Beyond teaching and research, Prof. Chetty has
made substantial contributions to administrative activities. He started M.Tech in Autonoumus Electric Ve-
hicles (AEVs) and leading since from 2020. He is an active core committee member for various institutional
initiatives, including the NBA Core Committee, NAAC Core Committee, and NIRF Core Committee. In these
roles, he has been instrumental in preparing documentation for accreditation, maintaining academic quality,
and enhancing institutional rankings. Furthermore, he coordinates M.Tech and PhD programs within the
Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, supporting graduate-level education and research.
