About

Dr. Subramanian Sankaranarayanan earned his bachelor’s degree in Agriculture from MPKV, Rahuri, and his master’s in Biotechnology from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University. He received his PhD in Plant Developmental Biology from the University of Calgary, Canada, in 2015, and then pursued postdoctoral research at ITbM, Nagoya University, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, and Purdue University for over six years. He joined the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar in 2022, where he leads the PMDCB Lab. His research focuses on the molecular basis of plant reproduction. He has received several honors, including the Gene Huber Prize for Best PhD Thesis and the DBT-Ramalingaswami Re-entry Fellowship. He is passionate about teaching, mentoring students, and advancing plant science.
