Willi Paul is Senior Scientific Officer at the Central Analytical Facility, Biomedical Technology Wing of Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences & Technology, India. His areas of interest are inorganic nanoparticles in drug delivery and nanocomposite wound healing devices from chitin/chitosan. He has 91 publications in his credit including 10 book chapters with a Scopus Citations of 5451 and an h-index of 29 (Google Scholar Citations = 8701, h-index 34, SCI citations = 4474, h-index 26). Six patents are sealed including one US patent and four applications are pending. One technology on “Chitosan based wound dressing for chronic ulcers and donor sites” was transferred to Dynamic Technomedicals Pvt. Ltd. He is authorized by BARC (on training) for performing radioisotope tests in an Isotope Laboratory. He has attended several conferences and presented oral and poster presentations including four invited presentations. He has won two best poster presentation awards and one best oral presentation award during conferences. He has been awarded with Fellow Biomaterials and Artificial Organs (FBAO) by Society for Biomaterials and Artificial Organs (SBAOI) in 2011 for his significant contributions to biomaterials science and contributions to the development of the Society (SBAOI). He is life member of Society for Polymer Science India (SPSI), Society for Biomaterials & Artificial Organs (India) (SBAOI) and Society for Tissue Engineering & Regenerative Medicine (India (STERMI). He is also the Managing Editor of the Trends in Biomaterials & Artificial Organs, international journal published by SBAOI. Visited China as a Scientific Programme Committee member (SBAOI representative) of 9th World Biomaterials Congress, 2012. Visited University of Valladolid, Spain as part of the Indo-Spain project (with University of Valladolid) in 2012. He is co-investigator of the recently approved Indo-UK collaborative (UKIERI) project (with University of Liverpool) funded by DST. He was actively involved in the event management of several conferences arranged by the Laboratory/Institute/Society and the Course Programmes arranged by Industry Institute Partnership Cell at SCTIMST.
