About
Dr. Rajesh P. Barnwal is a Senior Principal Scientist at the AI & IoT Laboratory of Information Technology & ACR Group, CSIR-Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-CMERI), India. He is also an Associate Professor (Honorary) at the Academy of Scientific & Innovative Research (AcSIR-India). He is a computer scientist & practitioner with more than two decades of experience in research, technology development, and academic leadership.
He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science & Engineering from IIT Kharagpur, where his research focused on data-driven trust and security in distributed cyber-physical systems. He also holds an M.Tech. in Computer Science & Engineering from IIT Kharagpur. Additionally, he has undertaken postdoctoral research at the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Kolkata under the INSA Visiting Scientist Fellowship, working on robustness and security aspects of deep learning systems.
Dr. Barnwal’s research interests include Artificial Intelligence, Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), Cyber-Physical Systems, Smart Manufacturing, Industry 4.0, Digital Twins, Cloud Computing, and Industrial Data Analytics. His work emphasizes the translation of AI and IoT research into deployable solutions for manufacturing and industrial automation.
He has authored numerous peer-reviewed journal and conference publications, book chapters, and technical reports, and holds patents, copyrights, and design registrations in intelligent and IoT-enabled systems. He actively supervises M.Tech., Ph.D., and Post-doc scholars, and is involved in national and international collaborative research programs.
Dr. Barnwal regularly serves as a reviewer, guest editor, technical committee member, and session chair for leading international journals and conferences. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and ACM, a Senior Individual Member of INAE, and an active contributor to initiatives aligned with Smart Manufacturing and Industry 4.0.
