About
Prof. Sujeet Chaudhary is an Experimental Condensed Matter Physicist. His domain of research interest is primarily associated with fabrication and investigations of the nanostructured thin films and multilayers by Sputtering Techniques. These films and multilayers find applications in developing Spintronic devices that operate at lower power with high speed/faster switching, and exhibit high scalability, non-volatile and several other new/novel functionalities. In particular, his group focusses on the thin film structures that can stabilize high degree of Spin Polarization/Half Metallicity, Spin-Gapless Semiconducting Character, Skyrmions, Perpendicular Magnetic Anisotropy, Exchange Bias effect, Giant Magnetoresistance effect, Tunnel Magnetoresistance effect (in Magnetic Tunnel Junctions), low Gilbert damping, high spin pumping across the Ferromagnet/Heavy-Metal interface, non-trivial band topology, etc.
His association with Physics Dept. of IIT Delhi dates back to July 1988, when he joined the Institute for Masters in Science (Physics) programme followed by Masters in Technology (1991) and PhD in HTSC thin films (1997). Thereafter, he served as Scientist (during April 1997 - May 2002) in the then Centre for Advanced Technology (CAT) Indore, a research and development center under Department of Atomic Energy, Govt. of India. There, he undertook a number of experimental projects investigating the metastabilities across the first order phase transitions in a number of magnetic as well as superconducting material systems. In May 2002, he moved back to IIT Delhi to serve as a Faculty in the same Department of Physics at different levels - Assistant Prof. (May 2002-Oct 2006), Associate Prof. (Oct 2006-April 2011), Professor (April 2011-June 2021) and Professor with Higher Administrative Grade (HAG) since July 2021.
He is a recipient of MRSI-Medal -2007 Award. As PI and Co-PI, he has completed in several sponsored research projects (of ~Rs. 650 lakhs). He has contributed in ~200 refereed journal publications and ~70 conference proceedings publications with an h-index of 30.
