About

Marine scientist in the field of physical oceanography: M.Sc. (five-year degree) in Marine Environmental Science in 2003 and in Tropical Marine Science in 2006, PhD in Marine Science in 2012. Currently researcher (full-time permanent position) at the National Institute of Oceanography and Experimental Geophysics - OGS, member of the Italian Scientific Commission for Antarctica (CSNA) from 2020 to 2023, of the Scientific Committee of the icebreaker ship r/v Laura Bassi from 2020 to 2024 and of the Steering Committee of the Arctic ROOS (Regional Ocean Observing System, currently in progress). Author/co-author of about 41 ISI publications and numerous publications in national and international conference proceedings. His research focusses on thermohaline circulation, dense water formation and climate change in the Mediterranean and polar regions. Numerous multidisciplinary scientific activities and co-operations. Since 2002, he has participated in more than 30 oceanographic cruises (Mediterranean, Atlantic, Arctic, Antarctic), gaining solid experience in the collection/processing of oceanographic data (thermohaline data, current velocity data, time series, etc.), the development of instruments and the interpretation and analysis of data. Involved in several projects in a national and international context, both as coordinator and task leader as well as participant. Supervisor of Bachelor, Master and PhD students as well as in third party missions and scientific dissemination activities. Reviewer for several ISI journals. Excellent command of 2 foreign languages (English and Portuguese) and understanding of Spanish.
