About
Dr. Padmshree Mudgal earned her Ph.D. in Animal Biochemistry from National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal, Haryana and is presently Professor in Biochemistry Department, Daulat Ram College, University of Delhi. She has vast academic experience of 35 years.
.Dr. Mudgal has a passion for teaching and has initiated many new learning pedagogies. She established the Zebrafish lab facility in the Daulat Ram College, in 2015 and popularized zebrafish model system as a teaching and research tool. Till date ~ 200 faculty members and ~1500 students have participated in various workshops/ Internship programs organized by the facility.
She has co- authored a book titled “Textbook in Membrane Biology”, a Springer publication in 2018, and has many research publications to her credit. Her research interest lies in evaluating the therapeutic potential of traditional Indian medicine in various human diseases using zebrafish model system with a purpose to develop cheaper and safe alternative therapy protocols. She has also gained expertise in using zebrafish model system in assessing the health impact of food additives and environmental pollutants.
She is a recipient of many awards including the “Best Innovative Idea”, ‘Teaching Excellence award for Innovation’ by University of Delhi in 2015 and “Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Best Teacher Award in Biochemistry” by Center for professional advancement in 2021
