About
I am currently working as a senior research fellow at the Advanced Engineering Centre (AEC) at the University of Brighton, I have achieved notable accomplishments throughout my academic and research career. I have been recognized by prestigious organizations, holding memberships with the Energy Institute (EI) UK, The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), and the Combustion Institute (CI) British Section.
My educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Vinayaka Mission University, India in 2011, followed by to obtained Master’s Degree (M.Tech.) in Internal Combustion (IC) Engine from Vel Tech Rangarajan Dr. Sagunthala R&D Institute of Science and Technology, India, in 2013. My master's thesis delved into the development of a Laser Ignition System for Lean Burn CNG Engine, focusing on mitigating NOx emissions through high-energy spark combustion of lean CNG/Air mixtures. During my master in VelTech University, I developed strong foundation in IC Engine with theoretical lectures provided by the very experienced faculties and experimental hand on training in advanced engine lab. This experienced increased my interest to pursue my career in research. In August 2020, I attained my Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering/Renewable Energy from Anna University, Chennai, India.
Post-doctoral research, I joined Aston University, Birmingham, UK, in September 2020 as research associate, where I contributed to a waste-to-energy project as part of UK-India collaboration. Later in 2023, I joined senior research at the University of Brighton, UK, focusing on Hydrogen combustion.
My research journey has been defined by consistent academic outputs, impactful contributions to the energy and combustion field, and successful acquisition of competitive external funding. I have led and collaborated on four major funded research projects—two on national platforms and two through international collaboration—which have collectively advanced the understanding of sustainable fuels and advanced combustion systems. These projects culminated in the publication of over +30 peer-reviewed articles, four book chapters, and authorship of two books: "LASER Ignition System for CNG Engine” (ISBN-13: 978-3656720058) and “Let’s Start Your Career” (ISBN 9781365915178). I also served as editor for “Futuristic Trends in Renewable & Sustainable Energy, Vol. 3, Book 4, 2024” (IIP Series, E-ISBN: 978-93-6252-602-1). Around 70% of these publications have appeared in high-impact journals, reflecting both the novelty and relevance of my research, resulting in over 452 citations with an H-index of 13 and i10-index of 17.
In terms of research funding, I have played a pivotal role in securing competitive grants across different stages of my career. Notably, UK-India Research and Education Initiative (UKIERI) project titled “Waste to Engine – Low Temperature Combustion for Sustainable Energy”, securing a grant of £65,000. The £1000 ASTUTE Seed Corn Grant for investigating flexi biodiesel fuels derived from waste for marine engines. Moreover, £108,500 grant through the Royal Academy of Engineering’s Transforming Systems through Partnership (TSP) program. This project is focused on liquid-ammonia direct injection stratifications, contributing to the broader objective of enhancing ammonia utilization in marine engine applications.
Awards Recognition of my contributions has been marked by several honors, including the Young Scientist Award 2024 by the Indian Science Community.
