About
Professor Prasad Naik develops new models and methods to improve the thinking and practice of marketing. He has published over 50 articles in the world's finest journals, which include Nature Reviews, Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Marketing Science, Management Science, Automatica, Biometrika, JASA, JRSS-B, Journal of Econometrics, Operations Research, among others. He serves or has served on the Editorial Boards of Marketing Science, Journal of Marketing Research, International Journal of Research in Marketing, Quantitative Marketing and Economics, Marketing Letters, Journal of Interactive Marketing, and Journal of Retialing. Currently, he serves as a Senior Editor at Production and Operations Management.
Naik is a recipient of the UC Davis Chancellor’s Fellowship, Frank Bass Award, O'Dell Award Finalist, Journal of Interactive Marketing Best Paper Award, and Academy of Marketing Science Doctoral Dissertation Award. He was selected as the Top 20 Young Scholars by Marketing Science Institute, Doctoral Consortium Faculty on multiple occasions by the American Marketing Association, and Professor of the Year for outstanding teaching on multiple occasions by UC Davis. He has presented over 100 seminars at prestigious institutions such as IBM, Yahoo!, MIT, Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Chicago, Northwestern, UC Berkeley, UCLA, Rice, Darden, as well as at global conferences in Australia, Austria, Belgium, China, Canada, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Israel, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Singapore, and Turkey.
He co-founded the annual Marketing Dynamics Conference (operating since 2005) and the Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) degree program at UC Davis (operating since 2017).
He also led MBA teams to Argentina, Brazil, China, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand to understand international business. He coached MSBA students, who won the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Prizes in the Adobe Analytics Challenge across 1000+ teams worldwide.
Prior to doctoral studies, he worked for several years with Dorr Oliver and GlaxoSmithKline, where he acquired invaluable experience in sales, distribution, and brand management.
Naik holds a Ph.D. from the University of Florida, an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the Institute of Chemical Technology (formerly UDCT). During 2022-23, he took sabbatical at the MIT Sloan and Columbia Business School.
