About

I am a PhD candidate at Dibrugarh University, Assam. My research topic is "Development of an empirical model for nutrient utilization in Microbial enhanced oil recovery (MEOR) in parts of Upper Assam".MEOR is an interdisciplinary topic that requires extensive knowledge of both biotechnology and reservoir engineering disciplines. I will be working with the Sandstone formation which comprises both the Barail & Tipam reservoir rocks of Upper Assam,

My research work will be focused on how microbes utilize nutrient consumption and produce bio products mainly BIOS & Bio-polymers and also focuses on the recovery mechanisms and rock fluids interaction in core samples. I will generate data based on laboratory experiments which will help me to develop an empirical model.

The main objective of my research work will be the development of the conceptual model, mathematical model & numerical model of MEOR, which is the core of reservoir simulation studies.

I will mainly focus on developing a MEOR Dynamic simulation model in MATLAB Reservoir Simulation Toolbox (MRST), which is an open-source reservoir simulation toolbox developed by SINTEF, Norway. The simulation model will help to predict the future performance of MEOR under varying reservoir conditions & parameters like salinity, permeability, and pH, the model will also help to obtain optimization strategies based on reservoir properties and will help to provide the best nutrient composition required for that particular reservoir based on microbes characteristics. I will also observe rock-fluids interaction from microbial flooding studies in sandstone core samples and later simulate the core flooding results using the MRST toolbox
