Dr Janette Parr

About

I am a Research Fellow specialising in evidence synthesis, mixed methods research, and epidemiology.

My research career began in 2008 at the NIHR Horizon Scanning Centre (University of Birmingham), where I delivered early intelligence on emerging health technologies to UK policymakers. In 2013, I joined a local government public health team as Principal Information Analyst, leading evidence generation for public health commissioning. In 2021, I transitioned to a PhD at the University of Warwick, supported by the NIHR, which examined public health intelligence challenges for local authorities responding to COVID-19. This research strengthened my mixed methods and evidence synthesis expertise, which I now apply to support a variety of evidence synthesis projects including evidence and gap maps and rapid, scoping, systematic, and realist reviews. I am currently working at the Centre for Evidence and Implementation Science (University of Birmingham).

I have extensive experience of managing all stages of research projects, from stakeholder-led research question development to delivering high-quality, actionable outputs within tight deadlines. I specialise in translating complex evidence into clear, reliable, and policy-relevant insights that inform health and social care decision-making.
