About
Dr. Shiva Prakash S is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at New Horizon College of Engineering, Bengaluru, India, with more than two decades of academic and industrial experience. His academic journey includes a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering, an M.Tech. in Tool Engineering and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering (UVCE), Bengaluru. He previously served as a Lecturer at Dr. T. Thimmaiah Institute of Technology and worked in industry as a Service Engineer and Service Manager in quality control before entering academia.
His research interests focus on advanced materials, metal matrix composites, hybrid nanocomposites, additive manufacturing, tribology, corrosion engineering, composite materials, optimization techniques, sustainable manufacturing, artificial intelligence, machine learning applications in engineering, smart manufacturing, renewable energy systems and Industry 4.0 technologies. His doctoral research investigated the mechanical and tribological properties of MWCNT and B₄C reinforced Al8011 metal matrix composites using statistical optimization methods.
Dr. Shiva Prakash has authored journal articles, conference papers, book chapters, books and patents in the fields of mechanical engineering, materials engineering, manufacturing and interdisciplinary engineering applications. His research has been published in reputed international journals indexed in Scopus, Web of Science and other leading databases, covering topics such as metal matrix composites, corrosion behavior, additive manufacturing, optimization techniques, artificial intelligence, predictive modeling, biomedical engineering applications and sustainable production systems.
He has received competitive research funding from the Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology (KSCST) for developing an accident prevention system to mitigate sleep-driving-related incidents. He actively supervises undergraduate and postgraduate research projects and is committed to promoting innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration and outcome-based engineering education.
Dr. Shiva Prakash is an active member of professional organizations, including the Institution of Engineers (India), the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), the International Association of Engineers (IAENG) and other international professional bodies. He also serves as a reviewer for several international journals, contributing to the advancement of high-quality scientific research. His current research aims to develop advanced materials and intelligent engineering solutions that address challenges in manufacturing, energy, healthcare and sustainable technologies.
