About
Currently, I am a Professor in the Economics Department in Presidency University, Kolkata.
I am a Graduate with Economics Major from Presidency College (1986-1989). AFter completing my post graduation from Calcutta University, I joined West Bengal Education Service in 1994. In 1998, I joined Rabindra Bharati University. While working there, I submitted my doctoral thesis on community resource management in 2004. In 2005-06 I served in the Prime minister's High Level Committee as Senior Consultant to prepare a report on status of Muslims in India. This was the land mark Sachar Committee Report. In 1997, I resigned from Rabindra Bharati University to join Institute of Development Studies Kolkata, and in 2010 I joined Institute of Economic Growth.
I am currently working on time use, marriage and family, reproductive health, gender and education. I have published in international journals like Ecological Economics, Tourism Management, Sustainable Development and Energy Research and Social Science.
