About

Dr. Suresh Kumar Dalpath is a distinguished medical doctor and public health leader with over 25 years of expertise in immunization, maternal and child health (MCH), nutrition, and health system strengthening. He holds a Master’s in Public Health and postgraduate diplomas in MCH, Public Health Nutrition, and Health Economics & Policy. He has advanced training in Vaccinology, Vaccine Economics, WHO–ICCM, and serves as a facilitator and trainer for WHO–MLM immunization training. He is a Fellow of the National Neonatology Forum and the author of more than 35 peer-reviewed publications.
Currently, Dr. Dalpath is the National Technical Lead for Immunization Implementation at the William J. Clinton Foundation, where he focuses on strengthening immunization data and review systems, zero-dose analysis, and developing mitigation strategies. He provides technical support at national and state levels, enabling evidence-driven decision-making for routine immunization strengthening.
As Deputy Director and State EPI Officer for Haryana, Dr. Dalpath provided techno-managerial leadership across RMNCAH, immunization, nutrition, monitoring & evaluation, and public health programs. He established networks of newborn care units, kangaroo mother care units, and vaccine stores, while designing innovative models such as the IBSY Child Screening program, referral transport scheme, micronutrient supplementation initiatives, food fortification programs, and RI concurrent monitoring systems. Many of these interventions were later replicated nationwide or adopted into national policies.
Dr. Dalpath played a pivotal role in the introduction and scale-up of seven new vaccines in India, including conceptualizing the first state-funded scale-up of PCV in Haryana. He successfully led multiple large-scale immunization campaigns and contributed to disease eradication and elimination goals including Polio, Maternal and Neonatal Tetanus, and Measles-Rubella. His efforts have significantly advanced progress in reducing IMR, NMR, and U5MR, aligning with India’s commitments to MDGs and SDGs.
His technical strengths span EVM and RAPID assessments, concurrent evaluations, zero-dose mitigation strategies, nutrition programming, capacity building of health workers, and evidence-based policy development. During his time with WHO–NPSP, he developed training needs assessments, RI monitoring formats, MYSP strategies, and National AEFI guidelines, strengthening immunization systems nationwide.
Dr. Dalpath is widely recognized for his advocacy, policy influence, and ability to build consensus among technical, social, political, and administrative actors. He has successfully mentored and led large multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring last-mile program delivery. A strong proponent of low-cost, scalable, and innovative health solutions, his programs have consistently demonstrated adaptability and long-term sustainability.
Through a career spanning public health practice, policy, research, and advocacy, Dr. Suresh Kumar Dalpath has made notable contributions to vaccine introduction, neonatal survival, nutrition security, and immunization system strengthening, positioning him as a leading expert shaping India’s public health achievements.
