About

Dr. Shripad Revankar is a Professor of Nuclear Engineering at Purdue University, USA. He was ( 2010-22) BK21-Plus Visiting Professor at the Division of Advanced Nuclear Engineering, Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) in South Korea , and was (20015-16) Visiting Professor at the Mechanical Engineering Depart, IIT Bombay. He received his BSc. MSc and Ph.D. in Physics from Karnatak University, India, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Vacuum Science and Technology from University of Bombay, and M.Eng. in Nuclear Engineering from McMaster University, Canada. He has worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory and at the Nuclear Engineering Department of University of California, Berkeley. His current research interests are in multiphase flow and heat transfer, microgravity multiphase flow in packed beds, fuel cell design, simulation and power systems, thermochemical water splitting hydrogen production, reactor thermal hydraulics and safety. He has published over 500 peer reviewed papers in archival journals and conference proceedings, and is author/coauthor of two recent books: Advances in Nuclear Fuels, InTech, ISBN 978-953-51-0042-3, February 2012, Fuel Cells-Principles, Design, and Analysis, CRC Press ISBN 978-1-42-008968-4, June 2014. He has received undergraduate teaching award in 2004, research awards in 2004 and 2005 and service award in in 2018 from Purdue University. He is Life Member of the following societies: American Nuclear Society (ANS), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), Korean Nuclear Society and Indian Society of Heat and Mass Transfer (ISHMT). He was elected as Fellow of ASME in 2008, Fellow of ANS in 2015, Fellow of AIChE in 2017, and Fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry in 2025. He received ANS Thermal Hydraulics Division Technical Achievement Award in 2019. He has served as Chair of Thermal Hydraulics Division of ANS, Chair of ASME K-13 Committee on Heat Transfer in Multiphase Systems, Chair of ASME Nuclear Engineering Division, Executive Member of the AIChE Transport and Energy Processes Division, and Chair of the ASEE Nuclear and Radiological Division. He is currently an Associate Editor or on the Editorial Board of eight International journals including Heat Transfer Engineering, Journal of Thermodynamics, Nuclear Engineering and Technology, Specialty Chief Editor of Frontiers in Energy-Nuclear Energy.
