Dr. Bhagwan obtained a Master of Computer Applications (MCA) from the 110-year-old University of Mysore, India, and an MSc and a PhD from SRTM University in India. He worked as a postdoc at the National Center for Cell Science until late 2019, with additional appointments dating back to 2006. He is an eminent researcher in DNA and RNA-based Microbial Systematics, Microbial Ecology, Microbiome, Evolutionary Microbiology, Computational Biology, and Bioinformatics. After completing his postdoctoral fellowship at BRIC-NCCS (Pune), he joined Savitribai Phule Pune University, often called "the Oxford of the East," as an Assistant Professor. Currently, he serves as an Associate Professor at the Yenepoya Research Center, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) in Mangalore, Karnataka, India.
Dr. Bhagwan has published more than 150 articles in reputable peer-reviewed journals, including those published by The Lancet, Springer Nature, BMC, and Frontiers. He serves as an Expert for the European Commission, the French Foundation for Medical Research (France), and the National Research and Development Agency (Chile); and as a Certified Educator and Ambassador for GPTZero (USA), and as an Academic Advisor for Fengkai Group Co., Limited (Hong Kong), for various international and national agencies. Since 2022, he has consistently appeared in the AD Scientific Index (five times; ID: 4509536). His research has appeared in Nature and The Times of India.
