About
I am a virologist and molecular biologist with multidisciplinary research experience in immunology, toxicology, protein biochemistry, antiviral drug discovery, and vaccine development. My research focuses on understanding virus–host interactions and translating fundamental biological insights into innovative therapeutic and preventive strategies against infectious diseases.
Currently, I am pursuing my Ph.D. while serving as a Senior Research Fellow at CSIR–Central Drug Research Institute (CSIR-CDRI), Lucknow, India. My doctoral research is centered on the development of virus-like particle (VLP)-based subunit vaccines against flaviviruses, with emphasis on recombinant protein expression in Pichia pastoris, molecular cloning, protein purification, structural characterization, immunogenicity evaluation, neutralization studies, and preclinical assessment of vaccine candidates.
Previously, I worked as a Project Research Fellow on a DBT-SERB funded project at the National Centre for Cell Science (NCCS), Pune, where I investigated heat shock protein 90 (HSP90) inhibitors as host-directed antiviral therapeutics against Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). This research involved molecular virology, mammalian cell culture, antiviral efficacy testing, and the evaluation of host-targeted approaches to inhibit viral replication.
Earlier in my career, I worked at Yashraj Biotechnology Ltd., where I gained industrial research experience in protein purification and bioprocessing. My responsibilities included the purification of proteins from native biological sources, including human serum and animal tissues, using chromatographic and biochemical purification techniques, along with process optimization and quality-oriented laboratory practices for diagnostic and biomedical applications.
My postgraduate dissertation focused on the modulation of immunocytotoxicity by thyroxine in the presence of endocrine-disrupting chemicals, including pesticides, fungicides, herbicides, and pharmaceutical agents. This work provided insight into the influence of thyroid hormones on immune function and the immunocytotoxic effects of environmental contaminants, strengthening my foundation in immunology, toxicology, and cellular biology.
Over the course of my research career, I have developed expertise in molecular cloning, PCR and RT-PCR, recombinant protein expression and purification, protein biochemistry, chromatography, cell culture, immunological and biochemical assays, fluorescence-based techniques, animal experimentation, structural protein characterization, and preclinical evaluation of vaccines and antiviral compounds. My research interests include virus biology, viral pathogenesis, vaccine immunology, recombinant protein engineering, host-directed antiviral therapies, and translational infectious disease research.
My long-term goal is to integrate molecular biology, immunology, structural biology, and biotechnology to develop effective vaccines, antiviral therapeutics, and diagnostic tools for emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases. I am committed to interdisciplinary research, scientific collaboration, and translating laboratory discoveries into meaningful biomedical applications that improve global public health.
