About
Dr. D. Suresh was born in 1981 in Virudhunagar, India. He completed his undergraduate studies in Chemistry at VHNSN College (1998–2001) and obtained his postgraduate degree from The American College, Madurai (2001–2003), affiliated with Madurai Kamaraj University. He earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay), India. In 2009, he was awarded the prestigious Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) Postdoctoral Research Fellowship, through which he carried out postdoctoral research with Prof. Pedro T. Gomes at Instituto Superior Técnico, Lisbon, Portugal. In 2012, he joined the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), Osaka, Japan, as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist under the guidance of Dr. T. Akai. In the same year, he was also awarded the Dr. D. S. Kothari Postdoctoral Fellowship by the University Grants Commission (UGC), India. Currently, Dr. Suresh serves as a Senior Assistant Professor in the School of Chemical and Biotechnology (SCBT), SASTRA Deemed University, Thanjavur, India. He has successfully secured and completed several competitive research grants, including the DST-SERB Start-up Research Grant for Young Scientists (YSS/2014/000217), the DST-SERB Core Research Grant (CRG/2021/002847), and an ICMR Extramural Project as Co-Principal Investigator (Project ID: 2020-3333; OMI/18/2020-ECD-I). His research interests focus on the design and development of novel inorganic–organic hybrid materials for catalytic transformations and the development of luminescent materials for optoelectronic applications. Dr. Suresh has successfully guided one Ph.D. scholar to completion and is currently supervising four doctoral researchers. To date, he has published 58 research articles in peer-reviewed journals, filed four patents, and authored four book chapters.
