Dr. Raju Sarkar is a Scientist-C at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, specializing in Health Technology Assessment (HTA), health economics, public health, and demography. He holds a Ph.D. in Development Studies (Demography) from ISEC, Bengaluru; a Master of Population Studies from IIPS, Mumbai; and an M.A. in Geography and Applied Geography and B.Ed. from the University of North Bengal (NBU). Dr. Sarkar has expertise in health economic evaluation, cost-effectiveness analysis, budget impact analysis, systematic reviews, meta-analysis, and quantitative research. He has led and contributed to 12+ HTA and economic evaluation projects involving diagnostics, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, AI-enabled healthcare technologies, and public health interventions. Previously, he served as Scientist-C at the Indian Institute of Public Health Gandhinagar (IIPHG) and as a Research Fellow at the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Institute of Asian Studies, Kolkata. He has 25 scholarly publications and book chapters and serves on the Editorial Boards of Scientific Reports, Humanities & Social Sciences Communications, and Discover Public Health. His broader research interests include urbanisation, migration, population dynamics, and evidence-informed health policy.
