About
I am a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Civil Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, working with Prof. Indumathi M Nambi. My work explores how antimicrobial resistance (AMR) emerges, persists, and spreads through natural and engineered aquatic systems, with a particular focus on freshwater environments and wastewater treatment processes. By integrating molecular biology, microbial ecology, and environmental engineering, I study how treatment technologies shape microbial communities and influence the fate of antibiotic-resistant bacteria and genes. I work extensively with both culture-based and high-throughput molecular tools, including qPCR, digital PCR, whole-genome sequencing, and metagenomics, to track AMR across complex environmental matrices. Through this interdisciplinary approach, my research contributes to One Health frameworks and supports the development of more sustainable and resilient water management strategies.
