About
Dr. Jayesh J. Ahire is a Senior Manager – Quality (Ready-to-Use Lactic Cultures for Dairy) and New Product Development at IDMC Limited, Anand, Gujarat, India. He obtained his Ph.D. in Microbiology (2013) from North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon, India, with a specialization in probiotics and their biogenic metabolites.
He completed his postdoctoral research at Stellenbosch University, South Africa (March 2013 to April 2018), where he worked in the field of nanotechnology and microbiology. In June 2018, he joined Unique Biotech Limited, Hyderabad, as a Research Scientist at the Center for Research and Development, focusing on probiotic research. In 2022, he joined Advanced Enzyme Technologies Limited, Thane, as a Senior Scientist in the Probiotics Laboratory. In February 2023, he joined Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, Hyderabad, as a Probiotic Product Development and Technology Transfer Specialist.
Dr. Ahire has over 20 years of research experience in probiotics, microbiology, and nano-biotechnology. He has published several research articles in peer-reviewed journals and serves as an editorial board member for journals such as Probiotics and Antimicrobial Proteins, Current Microbiology, Frontiers in Microbiology, Dairy Science and Management, and Letters in Functional Foods. He also actively reviews manuscripts for various international journals.
His research interests include probiotics for human, animal, and aquaculture applications; antimicrobial proteins; nanofiber-mediated drug delivery systems; biofilm prevention; and strategies to combat infections caused by drug-resistant bacteria. He is also involved in preclinical and clinical evaluation of probiotic formulations.
