Margam Madhusudhan

About

Professor Margam Madhusudhan is serving in the Department of Library and Information Science at the University of Delhi. With an illustrious academic career spanning over 27 years, he has made outstanding contributions to LIS research, teaching, and institutional development.

Throughout his tenure, Prof. Madhusudhan has held several pivotal leadership positions in the University of Delhi, including Deputy Dean of Academics and I/c University Librarian (100 days). In these roles, he has played a strategic role in shaping academic policy, enhancing library infrastructure, and promoting research-driven innovations, particularly in integrating metaverse technologies into library services and education.

His remarkable academic and professional accomplishments have garnered him 21 prestigious awards, including the Professor S P Narang Research Promotion Award and Academic Excellence Award in 2026. As a committed mentor, he has supervised 23 PhD theses, 29 MPhil dissertations, and over 230 project reports in diverse LIS domains. He serves on several boards of studies in universities and on the editorial boards of 12 reputed journals globally.

He holds the highest GS citations 3,044, i10-56 and h-index of 26 among LIS faculty in India (as on 5 Oct. 2026). In recognition of his influence, Stanford University ranked him among India’s top 2% most influential scientists in 2023.

He is a life member of ILA, IASLIC, MALA, IATLIS, TSLA and many other professional associations. His research interests include evaluating Websites, Web-OPACs, ICT in Libraries, Mobile-based Library services, and Text mining.
