About
Dr Rajdeep Ghosh is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the School of Mechanical Aerospace and Civil Engineering at the University of Sheffield and he is also associated with the Integrated Musculo Skeletal Biomechanics (IMSB) group at the Insigneo Institute. Presently, he is working to transform fracture risk assessment in cancer patients with vertebral metastasis.
Prior to this, Dr Ghosh was a project scientist B and senior project scientist at the Orthopaedic Biomechanics and Implant Design (OBID) group, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. He investigated the biomechanical evaluation of commercially available temporomandibular joint (TMJ) implants on CT-scan based subject-specific human mandible. He has also developed a validation framework to assess effective material properties of lattice structures to be implemented in a novel TMJ implant for Indian patients suffering from TMJ ankylosis. Apart from that, he was also involved in a statistics based pilot morphometry study of human mandible of Indian subjects.
He completed my bachelors (B.Tech) with a major in mechanical engineering from the National Institute of Technology Agartala, India (2011-2015) and a PhD (2017-2023) in bone biomechanics and computational mechanobiology with a specialisation in machine design from the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, India.
During his PhD, he investigated the influence of implant textures on osseointegration followed by development of a neural network-genetic algorithm based pipeline towards design optimization of those textures for better secondary stability of the implant.
His research interests are musculoskeletal biomechanics, computational mechanobiology, implant design, fracture healing, fracture risk assessment, bone metastasis, bioimaging, soft computing and design optimization.
