About
Presently, I am working as an Assistant Professor of Pharmacology at the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research University, Govt. of NCT of Delhi, India. I did my Postgraduate in Pharmacology (M.Pharm.) from IIT (BHU), Varanasi with a Fellowship from the University Grants Commission, Government of India/ Ministry of Human Resource and Development, Government of India. I was awarded with prestigious INSPIRE Fellowship (JRF/SRF-P) from the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India (Ministry of Human Resource and Development) for Ph.D. in 2011 and joined IIT (BHU), Varanasi as Ph.D. Research Scholar under the supervision of Dr. Vikas Kumar (Associate Professor of Pharmacology, IIT (BHU) Varanasi, U.P., India) and co-supervision of Dr. Geeta Rai (Assistant Professor, Department of Molecular and Human Genetics, Faculty of Science, BHU, Varanasi).
Here at DPSRU, we are doing research in the field of Neuropharmacology (pre-clinical studies) with our PG/Ph.D. Scholars (supported by funding from DPSRU, Govt. of NCTD, New Delhi, AICTE, Min. of AYUSH, Govt. of India etc.). The ultimate goal of my research efforts is to discover therapeutic hits and leads suitable for drug development purposes, or for better standardization of therapeutically used herbal extracts/isolated phytoconstituent(s). Therapeutic areas of my major interest are: 1) metabolic disorders, 2) mental health problems and 3) co-morbidities encountered with metabolic disorders. In short, my major research interest is to be able to translate traditionally known medicinal uses of herbs in terms of modern concepts of evidence-based medicine. I am an active reviewer of Frontiers in Pharmacology, Pharmacology Biochemistry and Behavior; Natural Product Research; Journal of Ethnopharmacology, PLOS-ONE, Journal of Basic and Clinical Physiology and Pharmacology; Pharmacognosy Magazine; Scientific Research Publishing etc.
Along with academic and research works, I am also coordinating works related to AICTE, PCI, UGC, NIRF and Nodal Officer for DPSRU-AISHE along with other administrative works at DPSRU, New Delhi.
